I enjoy reading true crime and I found this one an interesting read. I’ve not read any books by this author before and I’ll definitely look out for his other books.

I liked the authors writing style and the way he built up a kind of rapport with the murderers to have a way into their mind and their reasoning behind their actions. The way these offenders feel no empathy or anything is maddening and I really felt for the victims families. Especially those that still don’t have answers or the body to put to rest.

Some of these criminals mentioned I had heard of but a couple I hadn’t and those I found really intriguing and I’d like to read more about them.

Thank you to Compulsive Readers and the publisher for having me on the tour and for my gifted copy.

The author wrote in a way that made him seem quite misogynistic, narcissistic, and biased in a sense.. And a lot of the reviews said the same so I feel like it might not be worth reading.

I had hope that this man would stop talking about his other books. Each time he introduced a new killer I hoped he would go into a little bit of the crime but nope he’ll go into a little and then “ you can find more in my other book blah blah”. It frustrated me to no end. I had to look up the killers because he told me so little. The Wikipedia articles are scarily similar.

Christopher Berry-Dee's books are really hit-or-miss for me, but I found this one intriguing with food for thought when considering criminal minds. I found Berry-Dee's enthusiasm and fascination palpable throughout which adds to the depth of his book. Overall, Talking with Psychopaths - A Journey into the Evil Mind: A Chilling Study of the Most Cold-blooded, Manipulative People on Planet Earth was an interesting concept that included many cases familiar to me and even some new ones that were intriguing.

Thank you, NetGalley and Bonnier Books & Co. for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The topic itself interests me so much so this one hurts to dnf...

However the writing style and use of words threw me off. It is very dehumanising and feels counterproductive to the topic of the book.

We are trying to learn what goes in in the minds of psychopaths but by dehumanising them it feels like we learn nothing about the human mind...
