It was weird reading a language barrier while all the text was in English, but it's a better choice than a British author inventing an Indigenous language. I think this is the first strictly Pratchett book I've read, and I really love his writing style. There's so much personality in each of his characters, and you can tell how much he cares about telling a story and getting the reader to think. About themself, their world, the implications in the book's world. I really felt Mau's growth from a scared boy doing what must be done, to a chief who knows to put his people first, even over tradition.
Moderate: Death, Gun violence, Blood, Medical content, Grief, Pregnancy, Alcohol, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Animal death, Child death, Miscarriage, Suicidal thoughts, Violence, Cannibalism, Murder, Colonisation, and Pandemic/Epidemic

Absolutely incredible.
There's no way I can talk about this book coherently right now (or maybe ever) but it's one that's going to stay with me for a long, long time. Wow.
