A decent introduction to Chestnut Springs, yet overall underwhelming; this series has been so heavily hyped that I had high expectations going into reading the first installment. It was interesting to learn the details of being a professional bull rider, a career that I know next to nothing about, and the primary setting on a Canadian ranch has a lot of potential. However, I wasn't terribly impressed by either the writing or with these two main characters. Rhett comes across as a smug, immature pain in the ass, although I was amused by the problems caused at the beginning of the book with the public revelation that he doesn't like milk, of all things. Oh, the horror! Summer is incredibly driven by her work, but otherwise is rather bland. The forced proximity makes them friends a little too suddenly, and once they start getting involved romantically, Rhett becomes possessive and bossy to an unpleasant degree. I kept wanting the story to be about other characters who were on the periphery and seemed much more appealing. I'd like to pick up the next book to see if I become more invested in its characters than I did with this one.
