More of the Ender universe - need I say more?

A solid addition to the Ender Saga. I enjoyed this book. The beginning is a little slow and wordy, but once the action starts, it is riveting.

This is a fantastic book set, time-wise, before Ender's Game. It sets up the story of the first Formic War and draws directly from the Marvel comics (which are also definitely worth checking out).

Within, we learn the circumstances around humanity's first contact with the buggers in addition to details about space mining operations, corporations, free-miners, and all their different interactions. We also get a glimpse into the Mobile Operations Police (MOP), which is the highly skilled special forces group where Mazer Rackham is eventually trained.

I highly recommend this book if you're a fan of the Enderverse. I definitely will be adding the second book in the sub-series, Earth Afire, to my to-read list.

Probably closer to 2.5 stars. There were some great moments but a whole lot of mediocrity in between. I wonder how much of this was actually written by OSC.

I was excited to read the enderverse prequels, even so I liked this more than I expected to. A good origin story for the buggerinos.A couple of times I felt like certain scenes were just padding but it could be that they're building up to something in the next book.

An okay story. Basically a novel version of the previously publish comic prequel to Ender's Game concerning the first Bugger War. But a bit lame. Definitely not up to the best of OSC - then again it is a two author book which means it could easily be primarily the junior author. It kind of had a bunch of standard sf stuff - family run small ships (as per Cherryh), super bright (poor) mechanic, evil corporations. 3.5 of 5.

This was a lot better than I expected. It wasn't Ender's Game, but it was pretty good.
