this book really resonated with me. everything about it just clicks. walden’s style is really unique. shes so good at getting the reader to feel, to understand the emotions of a moment, something i havent seen in a while. all around wonderful, thoughtful, poignant coming of agr memoir that really got me right in tbe heart.

Reading this book I felt very seen but I do wish that there was a little more organization with it but it really was a good book!

This was quite sad. I forgot that this was a memoir until I picked it up again. Tillie went through a lot and it was hard to read at times, but their illustrations are beautiful.

Authors note: “I think for some people the purpose of a memoir is to really display the facts, to share the story exactly how it happened. And while I worked to make sure this story was as honest as possible, that was never the point for me. This book was never about sharing memories; it was about sharing a feeling.”

I like this approach to memoirs.

Walden’s work evokes a light-filled ache of melancholy and nostalgia in equal measures.

oh how i missed walden’s art after the samey/disney-like YA graphic novels i’ve been reading lately! her art is So Good! partially because it’s a memoir, it was pretty heavy at times which i wasn’t expecting as much. overall i don’t think i liked it as much as On a Sunbeam, and still it’s v high quality and v much a Mood.

I was rather reluctant with this graphic novel as it was so thick. I love a good thick book, me. But thick graphic novels just don't have enough in it for me compared to an actual novel with the beautiful words etc. This was pretty good and I finished it in two sittings. The main character is a young lesbian skater who is not so sure she's skating for the right reasons. Tillie's relationship with others is the main plot, though. A good read with sweet graphics and lots of details and information about ice skating.
