Death creeps up on a stubborn old woman but she will have none of it. She fights with all she has to overcome death. Well illustrated and a great story.

I just never truly connected with this book. Seeing the author is a poet makes me think my preferred narrative style just doesn’t match hers. I really appreciate the protagonist being an elderly queer WOC, and I like that it can be read literally and metaphorically. Maybe it just tries too hard to be “quirky”?

What a great character. I read the whole thing in two hours because I couldn't stop.

I liked this a lot. Like many older people, Kumiko refuses to take the advice of others and move to an assisted living facility. However, a trip to the hospital gives her some bad news, but Kumiko still refuses to back down. This is a cute tale and you will root for Kumiko throughout. The characters are quirky but compelling and the artwork is great. Read it for something different.

I enjoyed the premise and the plot but the artwork is lax, to put it kindly.
