Struggled with this. I think the audio wasn't working for me so I switched to ebook. Then a trigger for me came up
cheating
and I disassociated. I skimmed the rest of the book. The twist was good and I didn't see it coming but I wasn't invested in any of the characters. I pushed through because of the hype around this book and not wanting to dnf after getting so fae

Entertaining, but I was able to predict most of the twists. Nothing shocked me as I had already made those possible predictions prior to them being revealed. From the start it reminded me of Ruth Ware’s ‘Turn of the Key’. Troubled women living in an expensive home as live-in help, bedroom door that locks from the outside, a groundskeeper that is attractive, a bratty child, a creepy attic. And
an attractive husband character that is alluring at first but is so obviously part of the twist. If it’s too good to be true, it usually is! And they are always the ones with a dark side.
. All that said it was still fun enough when the twists reach their peak. I listened to the audiobook and kept following along because I wanted to see if my predictions were correct (which they were). Even
when Evelyn reveals that she was the one to start the disciplining ‘games’. And yes, I also knew we would be loop back to Kathleen being one of the ‘firsts’. I will say the one bit I didn’t predict was Nina planting the pepper spray in the bucket for Millie. And I wasn’t convinced Andrew would die in the end. I expected him to be carted off to prison instead.
. I will eventually check out the other two books in the series but will likely do the audiobooks again rather than read them.

"Just not yet."

i received my copy from a blind date with a book gifted by my friend marie for my bday, so i had to bingeee it.

its been months since i've read an entire book and reviewed one so my skills r a lil rusty but omg... this was my first freida mcfadden book and i've heard veryyy good things about her works.

it was absolutely crazyyy and i could not put it down. i went from hating nina to hating millie to hating nINA AND MILLIE SIMULTANEOUSLY to loving nina and hating andrew and millie and to loving both nina and millie
altho millies morals are fucked up cuz why would u fuck someones husband
and it was truly a rollercoaster ride.

i ended up crying at the end bc i was so satisfied with the ending (i had my doubts) and some of the characters abusive behaviors reminded me of my own grandparents (crazy right?) like its insanity how stuff like this actually happens.

im gonna have to pick up another freida mcfadden book soon because i was HOOKEDDDD!
