Great book, but very predictable in my opinion. I unfortunately read the book Verity by Colleen Hoover first. I kinda wish I would’ve read them in the other order, as I feel Verity was perfect, and The Housemaid was disappointing. It’s a slowish read throughout, and only by the end does it get going.

The twists and turns were predictable from the beginning, and had the cliché of “you think it’s Nina that’s the bad guy, but of course, it was her husband Andrew all along.”

 

The ending was pretty poor in my opinion. Turned into a Maid Husband Killer, which made me laugh out of embarrassment for the author decision. I personally don’t understand the hype. The torture scenes where really uncalled for too. Pretty specific and random torture scenes, and again became laughable at times with how weird it was. 

I wouldn’t recommend reading this if you have read Verity as there are a lot of similarities that are just too annoying. I would love to know who wrote what first! But, if you haven’t read Verity, then I would read The Housemaid first, and then dive into Verity!

Damn! This book hooked me. It was written in a way where I craved for more. Highly addictive to say the least. I couldn't stop reading. This is my third book from Freida and I thoroughly enjoyed this one more than the other two. Nina and Millie were both smart women who fell for the wrong guy. Good thing Enzo helped out. I thought he was undercover or something. Lol. God. It turned so dark, I had chills. Men like Andrew disgusted me. Who does that? Oh, one thing I wasn't crazy about was the police turned out to be Andy's ex's father. It was a bit too coincidental. But oh well, because of him, the women were free. Dear Cece will never be punished by a monster. The abuse stopped when he died and he turned that way because of Evelyn, his mother. And Millie's mission to help more women continues to the next book. I can't wait to read more. Thank you, Doc. (I heard in a book group on Fb that she's a doctor)✨

The twist was a lot more “in my face” and predictable than I was expecting, but it did not fail to keep me engaged. I was unable to put the book down.

I have read about 6465189106608920 books with this plot. Originality = zero. I mean really, could the ‘Part 2’ reveal BE any more obvious? A seemingly perfect husband who is an evil man Behind Closed Doors (see what I did there?)… It’s been done a thousand million times. Come up with something else. 0 for two with this author for me. I’m not sure what all the hype is about.

For real, though, how many books am I going to read with this exact storyline? 🫠
