This was a reread for me, and while I enjoyed it, this book is not my favorite in the series. I love the way she handles Leslie's story arc, but so much of the plot is muddled through Leslie's hazy grasp on reality. The themes are powerful and moving, but something about the pacing always falls a bit flat for me.

Man, I’d forgotten how dark this book is from the last time I read it in high school. I am glad that

Niall and Leslie didn’t get a Happily Ever After together, because that whole dynamic felt so messed up the entire time and I couldn’t tell if the book was endorsing that or not
