I am head over heels for this book. I love complicated (especially queer female) characters. Greta was an incredible narrator, I loved being in her kind of fucked up brain, I loved Big Swiss and her conversations about trauma (I don't think its ableist- I think sometimes people forget that humans are flawed? and have reasoning for black and white thinking)

I found this book to be dark and hilarious. Felt almost similar to a Gillian Flynn novel due to the descriptions and such rich characters. I think Big Swiss and Greta are pieces of myself and all women, loved a good seedy underbelly.

Incredibly unhinged. Probably the most uncomfortable book I’ve ever read and I loved every second. Comforted by Greta’s chaos like some tight socks.

One of the books where I could clearly understand why someone might dislike it and I would not have a good argument for why I did love it, but I do.

It’s so hard to formulate a review for this book — I took a week off of reading after I finished it to digest it and when friends asked how it was, all I could answer was ‘weird and so engrossing’.

This book had a complete chokehold on me and I finished it in less than 24 hours — I never quite knew where things were going, it moved at a quick clip, and I literally could not believe what I was reading half the time.
Unputdownable.

The characters are not lovable in a traditional sense — not a single person I was rooting for except the owner of the house and Piñon, the dog. However, they were totally intriguing and interesting and well-written.

I feel like I can’t share too much about the plot without giving it away, but it’s a wild ride that will completely stress you out in mostly fun ways. Recommended for people who love girlfailures, chaos, mess, complicated women, and moral grey areas.

I took one star away because there were times that it felt the author was trying wayyyy too hard to make the characters quirky and it felt forced, taking me out of the story at times.
