This event is the culmination of 7 years of great Thor comics from Jason Aaron. This event is a bit wacky at times, but it's never boring. War of the Realms is also a massive event with several tie-ins, which are mercifully optional. War of the Realms features beautiful Dauterman art, some corny dialog, and a healthy dose of fun. Worth a read for event junkies and Aaron Thor fans.

A genuinely epic event book from Jason Aaron's Thor corner of the Marvel universe. Lots of fun and gorgeous art!

This was epic. An epic mess, too. Apparently I needed to read something like 5+ years of previous comics to get what was going on here.

One of the best Marvel crossovers I have ever read. It will go down as a classic I think.

Randomly learned this existed and decided to give it a read. So bad. Was pretty funny at points. The plot is a bunch of Thor characters appear on Earth and they fight super heroes for 6 issues. There's so much absolute nothing going on its crazy. Small moments are blatantly stolen from big MCU moments in a feeble attempt to create an impact. Characters that are due to appear in the MCU play major roles for absolutely no reason - the Punisher is here shooting dark elves with a fucking glock, the nick cage skull guy is here driving a sports car around, and Blade is also here? I know he's a marvel character but in a decade of reading comics I've literally never seen Blade in a comic before so its incredibly jarring that the guy from that terrible 90's movie is here. Wolverine is also here, I guess he's alive again, and holy shit the comic is desperate to remind you that he is indeed alive. A character remarks that it's good to have him back, or its nice he's alive again, or that they heard he was dead, at least once per issue. Jesus fucking christ I know he's alive he's right there!

The rest of the characters are bad as well. They show up to shout catch phrases. Iron man wants to flirt with the hot ladies. Punisher is grumpy. Did you know that Daredevil is blind? Deadpool appears for one panel, and two Carol Danvers are leading two seperate teams on different continents with no explanations. Also both thor and doctor strange have magical talking dogs now? Who's fucking terrible idea was that.

Thor's mum and Christopher Eccleston play magic the gathering for like 2 issues (you cant break the dark rainbow bridge! Oh yeah, well what if i become Dark Thor's Mum! Oh yeah, well i'm dark so i still beat you oh yeah, well i'm infinity plus 1!) and they build Odin an iron man suit. It looks fucking dreadful. It has a beard. And in what universe could iron man suit lasers be better than odin's own magical lasers? it apparently does it for Thor's Mum cause she decides to yell that for the first time in their lives Odin is 'turning [her] on' which is 1) tmi, and 2) kinda unbelievable. Yeah it's a loveless marriage now but this isn't Robert Barrathion and Cerci Lannister.

Anyway, if you want a boring, pointless event comic where they just fight for 6 issues, read Original Sin.
