I am in total awe of this book. Rose Hackman describes these concepts so succinctly; it’s so impressive & so thoroughly researched. She manages to tackle the multiple intersections of gender, ethnicity, sexuality & more when it comes to the unequal burden of emotional labour, how it touches everything we do, & most importantly, how we need to radically transform our society by truly valuing what is too often rendered invisible & unimportant.
I learned so much. This should be required reading for everyone.

I ended up highlighting almost the entire book. Just about every word written felt like it needed to be screamed from every rooftop. I’ll be asking everyone I know to read it too. Now, I can’t not see how this plays out in my life as well as every other relationship I have and/or witness. A powerful book.
