I listened to the audiobook, and really loved the narrator. The story was also really good. The ending gave me lots of smiles, but wrapped up some of the plot things a bit too easily. Anyway, Jainan’s character growth was beautiful to experience. Kiem’s also. I loved them both.

The number of tropes shoved into the end of this book that I love that still managed to fall flat...

(3.5 stars) cute, liked the sci-fi world building and political intrigue.

DNF at 80%. I really really tried to give this one my best effort but it half asses everything. It half asses a relationship. It half asses a plot. It half assess the world building. The rampant miscommunication in this between our two narrators is horrendous. It’s blatantly obvious that the one character has some shit in his past but I get the feeling that big reveal was meant to be a big shocking moment. But it was blatantly obvious from the very beginning soo yawn there. This was supposed to be a new favorite because it has a a lot of my favorite things but oooooooooofff no this isn’t it and I’m glad I quit it early because I genuinely could not be bothered to keep reading.
