My local library never had this book in the series. I finally joined a nearby library and scored the one I had missed.
I will always read a Ruth Galloway mystery. I have enjoyed them all, and I'm starting to collect them. They are cozy mysteries, with humor mixed in. The characters are flawed, but I'm always rooting for them.

Ruth and I are the same age. Each year a book is released and we are a year older. I feel we would get along very well.

I had fallen behind with this series so realising I had 3 books to catch up on was v exciting. These might be a bit predictable, both the crime bit and the relationship drama bit, but I've grown attached to the characters over the years and British procedurals with a strong sense of place are kind of my thing. Perfect beach reading.

This one wasn’t so bad. I do find the pairings nonsensical - no reasons given for why Ruth and Nelson are in love (other than being tied together through trauma), and though I have a soft spot for Cathbad and Judy there’s again no detail about what keeps them together. Plus Ruth is a horrible person. Like, a really awful human. But all that aside, plot wasn’t so bad in this one, definitely better than others, and it wasn’t all magically connected to Ruth and her love life so it gets an alright rating.

Ruth Galloway is a favorite character and I loved the story with this one. I love how the characters continue to change and grow. Highly recommend!

A disappointing new addition to the series - firstly, it draws heavily on the events from the first book, and if you don't remember what happened, it's quite hard to follow, and secondly, the Ruth/Nelson relationship gets even more frustrating than it already was.
