Fantastic graphic novel. I'm a sucker for plot twists and this one had a couple of good ones! I'm also a sucker for weird spy gear and one of the characters delivered on that front as well. Overall, recommended for quality story, lore, and beautiful art.

Representation: Asian main character
Trigger warnings: Racism, bullying, death of a father

7/10, sounds like a good book.
Update: This actually was a good fantasy novel. The beginning was disjointed, it was a scene about some racist bullies, then suddenly the main character's dad dies, and the book just cuts to a scene where she moves to Hong Kong, but the book gets a lot better from there. The main character, Grace, discovers a dragon, and then a whole lot of backstory is explained about the war of the humans and the dragons and the treaty about human and dragon blood never mixing afterwards, which I liked.

The villains were very interesting, the first villain who lived in some sort of parallel world, was just pure evil, but the second villain was just misguided, he just wanted to make lives better by mixing human and dragon blood, which unknowingly broke the treaty and almost destroyed the whole city in the process. The story just ends when everything is back to normal, and after that, a cliffhanger, I can't wait to read the second book in the series, hopefully it answered some questions I had in the story, such as more information about the dragons and that one water spirit character. If you like a fantasy novel, this is the book for you.

There was more to this story than I expected!  But I'd like to note that the target audience should probably be teen (?) rather than middle grade - the students are unsupervised and talk about taking caffeine pills..
