Compared to WTNV Book #1, this reads like much more of a YA novel and is a lot more gripping. Although #1 had me really invested in the plot by the end, there were times when it felt too sanitized for what Night Vale is. This book really captured the unique strangeness of Night Vale, and I felt hooked almost immediately. I *loved* the callbacks to the character in book 1, and the way in which they were tied into the story. Definitely one of the best books that I've read recently! (Idk how the book would be received by someone completely unfamiliar with the podcast, the reading experience was 100% enhanced by the fact that you already know a few of the background characters/Night Vale customs from listening to the podcast).

Maybe the true Smiling God was the friends we made along the way.
