First of all, the shark scene was not as bad as I was expecting or rather led to believe. Yes it was unhinged but that’s what you expect of HD. Overall I really enjoyed this, good character development, communication, feisty but vulnerable FMC. Enzo’s anger was mildly annoying before he realised why. The grovelling was 🤌🏼. And to be honest this was much better than Haunting Adeline. Now I’m interested to see what her other books are like. I will say she does trauma and recovery extremely well.

Sorry to all the lovers of this book out there, but this was not it. The genre and tonal shifts, the repetitive nature of conversations and inner monologues, and the use of capital T Trauma to create drama made this a slog of a listen, even with talented narrators. This was enough for me to say that this author is not for me.
