OKAY.

So this book was amazing however, it did have some parts that I didn't absolutely love. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read Perks and loved it.

What I loved:
A majority of the quotes in this book are brilliant. Dellaira's writing is so beautifully crafted. I love the format of the novel, and how Laurel (love the name as well) writes to these dead people who had their faults and left their marks on the world. I got to see how people cope with death/grief differently (no one dies and there is not much to spoil, I promise).

What I didn't like:
I did not like Hannah and Natalie's relationship (not because they're homosexual, but because it was too graphic at times and they we're frustrating characters). Also, Laurel was sometimes an annoying bandwagon. It got her into some really unnecessary situations. then again, many people do this to hide their emotions by doing things to fit in.' I hope people know that risking yourself isn't needed.

I could go on forever aboout the things I liked and disliked but, I've gotta go.

Acabo de terminar esta novela a las 2:38 a.m. llorando como un bebé. Ahora mismo soy un remolino de emociones.
No sé qué puntuación darle a este libro, y es que es uno de esos a los que podría poner una estrella de la misma forma que cinco.

It was too young for me. The main character was trying to fit in by taking up with the proverbial Bad Girls. It just didn’t work for me.

'The boy and the girl beneath the trees, they will forever be frozen into exactly what they are just then-they will never touch lips, but they will never lose each other, either. They will be full of possibility, immune to whatever sorrow might follow.'

This is a heartbreaking read, very much so. The narrative style is certainly unique, and done well even though it could have gone wrong. I would highly recommend to fans of contemporaries and the hype is certainly well deserved.

"I have found that sometimes, moments get stuck in your body. They are there, lodged under your skin like hard seed-stones of wonder or sadness or fear, everything else growing up around them. And if you turn a certain way, if you fall, one of them could get free. It might dissolve in your blood, or it might spring up a whole tree. Sometimes, once one of them gets out, they all start to go."

Laurel has been given an assignment for English class - to write a letter to a dead person. Laurel starts with Kurt Cobain because her sister May loved him. Both died young. Eventually, Laurel's assignment evolves into a whole notebook full of letters to dead people, writing about her life and the truth about what happened to her sister, and her involvement.

This was truly a fantastic read. There were many ways that this could have gone completely wrong, but it was written perfectly. I don't see how Love Letters to the Dead could have been written any other way. The writing was very poetic at times, and it made for a very lovely read. The story itself was a very heartbreaking one and I did shed a few tears. I found Laurel naive at times, but still a great character. She wasn't that likeable at first, but when you find out her story and what happened to her, you start to understand her more and I did start to go grow to care about her. I did not really like May. I don't see how any sister could have left her when she did, but I guess she didn't really know any better.

I loved Laurel's relationship to those people around her. It all felt very real and relatable. I wasn't much of a fan of the romance, and I was very happy that it wasn't at the forefront of the story.

Overall, a really great read that I thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend.

Interesting concept… I guess?? But it just didn’t grab me, not the characters, not the story. Tough one…
