Another great book by Liane Moriarty - it really makes you question how well you know the people around you! Cecilia has the perfect life - perfect husband, children, job - until she finds a note written by her husband to only be opened upon his death. The secret contained in the letter affects the lives of the other main characters, Rachel (whose daughter was murdered 25 yrs ago) and Tess (who moves to the area after her husband leaves her for her cousin and rekindles a long lost romance).
The first few chapters are a bit confusing, as they jump from woman to woman and you are left wondering how they connect/what happened to the others. However, once the connections are made, the story moves along at a quick pace! I found myself reading huge chunks at a time to see what would happen to the women - at first glance, Tess's storyline doesn't seem to tie in with Cecilia and Rachel, but all becomes clear towards the end. Without Tess, Connor wouldn't have been in the park and the big event at the end would never have happened!
I was horrified by the price of Cecilia and John Paul's silence but I did agree with Rachel's choice at the end - though I do not think I could have been as strong as she was!
I can't wait to see if my library has more of Moriarty's work as I have really enjoyed the first two I've read!!

dammit moriarty, i was not prepared for how many times this book blindsided me.
i really liked these ridiculous people and their stupid problems. my name is esther, and i'm the middle child who obsesses over things my family wishes i would stop talking about, so i really identified with cecilia's daughter. esther fitzpatrick was not a major character, and yet she is the reason i decided to read the book. so thanks, esther.
dammit i am not getting over that epilogue any time soon.

This isn't the type of book I would normally enjoy or select for myself, but upon recommendation by a friend I gave it a try. It was a good enough read going through, though not super exciting. But the last few chapters really brought everything together and were quite satisfying on a more intellectual level.

Very compelling - a fun (at times) read with lots of serious, thought-provoking issues.

First time reading a book by this author. I have friends that read the story and enjoyed it. It was a good story, but to be honest, it took me well over 100 pages to keep all the various characters straight. Made me wonder how and when they would all cross paths, which they do, of course towards the end. Definitely make me think what would I do in that situation.
