I’m curious what the special class Maomao was teaching was about. Don’t know if they’ll flashback to it in future volume.. only reason why I knocked down 0.25 stars. I know petty, but I wanna know too!! The

seaweed case

Was a anticlimactic, as Maomao suggests. She’s really a mad scientist, with her love of injesting poison for the thrill of it 😂

The deal the Emperor and Jinshi has⚠️ That smells like they have a secret. Excited to find out if I’m right!!!!

This was a lovely volume in the story! There were fewer mysteries involving poisoning or outright murder and a much stronger focus on Maomao settling into her new place in the Outer Court and solving other general mysteries. I'm sure things will ramp back up from here though, so I'm excited for the next volume!

The Apothecary Dairies continues to be an engaging story about a young woman working in the palace. Now living in the outer palace, Maomao sees a different side of palace life. Even so, she continues to solve mysteries and use her perceptive mind to help others. I do wish that we had some longer form mysteries interspersed with the shorter mysteries in this volume. There is a very slow overarching plot but I think this series would benefit from weaving a longer mystery with the smaller mysteries throughout.
