Unlikable characters, predictable plot and pretentious writing. I feel like this would have been a lot better if the book cover didn't tease the super secret ending. Maybe I wouldn't have guessed the ending if I wasn't as prepared for the "twist." Quick read and entertaining enough, but not really worth my time.

Really enjoyed this! Especially the way it was written and the cadence. It moved really quickly, and while I had an inkling to the plot twist the explanation of it all was much more gripping and heartbreaking than I could have imagined. A very interesting take on trauma and trauma responses!

@e.lockhart..I don't know if anybody has ever pointed it out to you, but as a Muslim, I am extremely offended that you have named one of the dogs Fatima. It's our Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) daughter's name. It hurt my religious sentiments because I believe it's a blatant and outright disrespect to her name. Had I known it before, I would have never read your book, let alone purchase it. The name Fatima holds great religious significance for us Muslims. We respect it with all our heart and soul. For you and for other people, it may be just a name. I accept it. But for the Muslim community, it has a deeper meaning. Just a minute's search on the internet would have let you know how sacred this name is for Muslims.

Though the novel was published way back in 2014, I don't know whether it would be possible to remove it. But in the future, while writing any book, please be mindful of names. And do keep religious sentiments of every community in mind.

Wow! Such an interesting book, while what’s happening is typical teen drama life, it’s written in a way that makes you believe there’s more. The ending though, woah!! I read this book so quickly because of how captivating it is.

This is a 3.7 for me.

What I love the most about this book is the way that it was written. It has such an unique way to tell what happened and the whole story on itself that I couldn't put it down once I got into the flow of things.
My problem, however, is that it left me wanting more. It felt like I didn't reach the end, in some way, and I was expecting some more pages to appear out of nowhere.

The ending was so obvious that I thought maybe it was a double fake out. I didn’t hate it, even so. I liked the metaphorical physicality of Cady’s grief

I particularly enjoyed the writing process at the end, makes me feel like I could actually be capable of writing a novel with it broken down like that.

I hated the way the characters spoke because it wasn't very realistic but my heart ached so much in the end for Cadance.
