I enjoyed reading this book as I have previously written books by this author. Her style of writing allows the reader to be drawn to each character as if you know them personally. I have been a fan of Ms. Mary Monroe since I read the “God Don't Like Ugly” series!

Monroe brings the Deep South world to life in this captivating tale of greed and consequences. This book has drama, suspense, and small-town charm.

I am still not so sure what to think and say about this book except the fact that I did enjoy it.

It was a character driven novel, and a likable one at that. Mrs Wiggins is a black lady in Alabama in the time of segregation and reading (listening) to what she went through and what she had to do was a blast.

Mrs Wiggins was beautifully narrated by Shari Peele and her reading gave just the right amount of character to Mrs Wiggins and just the right amount of drama to the story.

I was rooting for Maggie the whole time. The lady knew what she wanted and she went for it. I was really sad with the tragic ending, but overall it was an easy read.

A big thank you to RB Media and NetGalley for providing e with a free version of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Maggie Franklin, the daughter of a prostitute and an alcoholic father is childhood friends with Hubert Wiggins, the pastor’s son and nephew of the town’s undertaker. Having been friends for so long, they both knew and held each other’s secrets. Secrets that lead them to marry and deceive their family and friends. Maggie and Hubert are able to keep up their ruse, even welcoming a young son into their family. Maggie’s love for her family runs deep so when Claude became an adult and sought a wife and Hubert wanted to move on and live in his truth, she takes action to keep her family intact.

MRS WIGGINS, started a bit slow as the characters were introduced and we got to know them, but that soon changed as we were introduced to a different side of Maggie. Acting out of desperation and love, she manipulates situations that keep her family together. The lengths she went to were shocking and oftentimes tragic. This is a real page-turner.

This was a fast paced and highly entertaining read that will leave you speechless and wondering what in the heck you just read.

Mrs. Wiggins was one wild lady! I went into this book knowing that it was a pearl clutcher from what I heard others saying, but I really didn’t know what it was about.

Man-o-man, I wasn’t ready for Mrs. Wiggins. To put it lightly, she believed in very unconventional methods to settling her grievances. Vengeance was definitely hers and I think it’s safe to say that she was the original Equalizer. I also literally gasped out loud at that ending.

I don’t know if I’m interested in reading more historical fiction, but I really enjoyed this. This book made me feel everything and took me on a roller coaster of every emotion - you couldn’t tell me I didn’t know these characters in real life! The ending was wild but satisfying and I’m looking forward to reading more from Mary Monroe. Don’t play with Mrs. Wiggins!

Loved this book! Narrator for the audio was perfect. Without giving away spoilers this book took a few turns I didn't expect. This book got me thinking how hard it was for families in this time period to be LGBTQ and want to have children. Definitely will be suggesting this book for my progressive book group!

This book was not what I expected. It wasn’t terrible. It kept going left, but there wasn’t much build up before things started happening. All in all, it was a decent read.
