This book was not at all what I thought it would be an it was heartbreaking for that very reason. To see that she was just a normal teenage girl with hormones and angst was difficult. Reading about her intense dislike of her mother sadden me even more because I feel she probably would have outgrown those feelings as she was given a chance.

I don’t see how I could give a star rating to someone’s own personal thoughts and feelings, so this just gets a 5 simply for being written and published in the first place.
