Thank you Sharon J for recommending this book to me. This was an amazing read. Ever since reading Playboy Pilot by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, I have been a fan of Vi Keeland's writing. The story follows the main characters, Drew Jagger and Emerie Rose as they fall in love with each other. This book had a lot of banter, friendship, and love. Drew Jagger is a family law attorney. He turns out to be one of the top divorce lawyers in New York City. When he comes back from his vacation, he meets Emerie, who got conned into renting an office that was not rentable. Emerie Rose came to New York City to start her career. She was a victim of a rental scam and met Drew. They first start off as friends, and when they could no longer fight their attraction for each other, the steamy scenes came. I loved the book. I can't wait to read more books from Vi Keeland. Overall, an incredible read.

DNF 3% , I have no patience with that colonial state.

The author could have used other martial arts, such as karate, judo, or Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Aikido, Kung Fu but she chose Krav Maga, a martial art created by the IOF. Like do some research … but I think she did if she chose this one specifically…

Added to my “do not read books by this author in the future” list

I loved this book! Drew was so funny and sexy and had a hidden, fiercely loving side opposite his cynicism. Emerie was his antithesis and yet his match.

The story was funny, sexy, heartbreaking, and heart-warming. And what Emerie did for Drew in the end was beautiful.

I absolutely adored this book. Definitely my all-time fave by Vi Keeland.

This book brought everything to the table. Drama, angst, romance, steam, and most enjoyable of all was the laughs. It was just so good!

Drew and Emerie were just so great together. The build-up alone was perfection. The back and forth banter, the wit, innuendos, and sarcasm were top notch. The sexual tension was through the roof. Watching these two dance around it for a while and then finally succumbing was just fan-freaking-tastic!

Drew was just so utterly charming. He was hilarious and sweet and handsome. Dominant and take charge. His chemistry with Emerie was crazy good and instantaneous right from their first meeting (which was hilarious!)

Emerie was a huge sweetheart. God, she was. She was also so strong and I adored her. I loved that she could look at her decisions in life and see where she went wrong and not dwell on it. It was life experience she was willing to learn from and she did. And her being finding such a special connection with Drew was like coming home after a long journey away.

Drew had so many complex layers. Emerie had them as well and as we unravel them both there was just so much in Drew's past we get to explore that really open up his character to us in such a beautifully vulnerable way. It made him so human and real. He had his flaws, they both did. Drew was intense and lovely. Beautifully flawed but so, so strong.

The story itself was heartfelt, sexy and hilarious. It had a bit of angst but in just the right places. The drama was good. The steam was so very delicious between them. I loved that Vi gave us chapters delving into Drew's past as the story progresses. So we're only told as much as we need to know as it evolves which was fantastic pacing on Vi's part. I loved piecing little details together before they were fully revealed and confirmed.

This book was just great and wonderful. It had a little bit of everything and the epilogue was just complete and utter rainbows and unicorns perfection. I adored it. I adored Drew and Emerie. I simply loved this book. I was so happy by the end that I even teared up because that epilogue was just so damn sweet and heartfelt. I would absolutely adore additional stories or epilogues from these characters. One of my all time fave books. Bravo, Vi. BRAVO.
