Although not marketed as YA, it was giving me a specific type of YA fantasy I don’t enjoy.

I enjoyed the book until it made reveals that just didn't make sense to me. The end did not make the plot feel cohesive and intentional.

I for one enjoyed this read. I went into this with the understanding that I was going to get a lot of Aztec lore. That is what I got, I enjoyed it, I inhaled every flourish word and description. The Zorro vibe was there, but not in the way I was expecting it which is good.

I really liked the setting and the time period. The plot was good overall, I just believe that there were too many subplots.

If you are interested in the life, then this might be for you!
