The perfect book for people who enjoy finding the beauty in the little things. “Core-core” as the youth call it today. I’ve been a John Green fan since I was but a young tumblr girlie, and his writing (for some reason) scratches all the satisfying parts of my ADHD brain. So, in the spirit of rating the anthropocene, I give John Green’s memoir four and a half stars.

As a COVID nurse, the reflections in a handful of the essays in this collection and the podcast from which they originated have helped and continue to help me find my white-knuckled way through this pandemic. I appreciate the author’s willingness to be, as ever, open and vulnerable about both the pain and the wonder of this beautiful planet we all live 6 feet apart on. I give The Anthropocene Reviewed, 5 stars.

there's books that you like and then there's books that make you realize you've spent the last year of your life a husk of nothingness that you are just now learning how to fill again

This was beyond excellent. John Green has such a strong narrative voice that at times I felt he was speaking directly to me. The range of topics he reviewed was incredible and his opinions always brought a smile to my face. I can’t recommend this book enough.
