After having read a few cult-focused books recently, I find that the control above all else is the fuel to the leaders fire. This book exemplifies the control that this cult held over its followers, who wouldn’t be considered to be the typical kind of person to join a cult - this is more NXVIM level which to some degree is worse. 
I’m glad the authors of these experiences are able to get out and reclaim their lives, but I am bummed that it had to happen at all.
