This story covers one of the most harrowing events in the history of Ireland. The language and POV makes the reader question what they would’ve done, had they made this tragic discovery. It is a fast-paced read, but never feels like anything is missing.

Beautifully written. Depicts hardship, humanity and the mundane in a way that is made beautiful. Pensive in tone and brimming with empathy, yet understated in emotion. Really enjoyed reading this, kind of wish it was longer!

Really beautiful piece of Irish fiction. Centred around the choices that a family man must make between helping those who are voiceless while risking business and his daughter’s futures.

This is my first Claire Keegan novel, and what a way to start!
Keegan's prose is sharp and evocative, drawing us into the world of Bill Furlong, a seemingly ordinary man caught in an extraordinary moral dilemma.
Set in 1980s Ireland, "Small Things Like These" is a deceptively short novel that packs a powerful punch. It explores the profound consequences of silence and inaction in the face of injustice.
Keegan's masterful storytelling leaves a lasting impression. I'm looking forward to read more from her.
