Hmmm, I liked most of it. However, the ending fell flat for me. I see where the author was trying to go, but it didn't do it for me.

#1 on my list for Halloween reads.

Night Train was a quick and enjoyable read. Nothing astounding, but it’ll stick with me.

There are three main characters—one of whom particularly reminds me of Gideon Nav from the Locked Tomb series, if that interests you, six chapters, and three interludes. The writing reads like a children’s or middle grade novel, which I liked but certainly isn’t for everybody.

The content is absolutely not for children. Despite not being scary, Night Train is very much a horror story. This, mixed with the writing, might create a dissonance for some readers that takes them out of the world. I thought it fit Quantick’s plot well, and there were more than a couple scenes where I laughed out loud because the writing technique lent itself to the comedy.

The ending was a bit unsatisfying but nothing disastrous enough that it ruined the entire book for me.
A solid start to my Halloween list.
