Imagine, if you will, that various classic horror characters come together. And then, if you will, imagine they engage in a game of sorts, a game to decide the fate of the world, a game involving a month of careful maneuvering and manipulation. And now, if you'll bear with me, imagine the story is narrated by their pets.

Yeah, pretty much. And I liked it.

The narrator, Snuff, has such a relaxed, seen-it-all attitude to his narration that he gives the impression that a lot is happening in the background, that high stakes moves are happening among the players but that Snuff has been through this often enough that nothing registers as gruesome or horrible to him so it all gets this breezy treatment.

It was good, really funny. And I suspect when I reread this I'll find something I missed the first time that'll make this even better.

I started this book last October and lost interest and moved on to other October themed books. I picked it up and dove back in determined to finish.  It was excellent, a true classic with atmosphere, whit, great character development and a plot that kept you on the edge of your seat. Truly remarkable piece of literature and a classic that I will treasure annually.
