I think Ms. Harris has finally jumped the shark. Not much at all seemed to happen in this book ... we got to see Sookie muse about her supposed religion some more than usual, were treated to a couple of showers and outfit descriptions and toenail paint. The situation with the supes has become more convoluted and less believable, especially the whole fae angle. And the end was abrupt, unsatisfactory, and set up yet another "Who will Sookie bone next time?" faux-cliffhanger. Sigh. The TV show has blown the books out of the water, sad to say.

Mini Review/Notes: Not enough romance to be as worthwhile as the others, but I appreciated Bill's brief reappearance (naked). Too many questions left at the end of the book.

This book was far more satisfying than the last one and I've noticed a lot of Harris' weird writing ticks are going away (not a single mention of hideous clothing...not one, nor a mention of Sam looking small but being strong, etc...however we did get one re-telling of how Bubba was made...WE KNOW, WOMAN!) Answered questions, Adele/Fintan's story gets deeper and the end of the book made me hate that I've got at least another year before the next. Bob, I love these stupid books.

I have found every book in the Sookie series to be enjoyable. I do feel that the series is losing steam in some regards - for instance, how long can Sookie bounce from love interest to love interest?

Dead Reckoning was somewhat disjointed and choppy. There were a lot of subplots going on - the fire bombing at Merlotte's, Eric's uprising against Victor, Eric and Sookie, the return of Sandra Pelt, the fairy storyline, etc. etc. It felt a bit like the book was a series of events!

As it seems Sookie can never stay happy in a relationship for long, Harris really does seem to be pushing Sookie and Eric to a break up. Maybe she gets bored of her characters being happy? I felt like there were hints that Sookie could eventually end up with Bill or Sam. I'd be okay with Sam, but Bill? Not so much (and I'm not just basing it on my dislike of show Bill - I have never much cared for book Bill either)!

While I don't find the last few books to be up to the same level as the first in the series, I still eagerly anticipate reading the next novel in the series!

I've enjoyed the series, and this was an interesting continuation. Seemed a little short, and of course, there are still unresolved issues.

Good book. Kept me interested. Maybe I'm just getting tired of this series, but I didn't like this book as much as I have liked some of the others...
