On paper, I loved this plot. In practice, I didn't love the execution. There was a lot of telling, not showing, which at times ruined the suspense. Unfortunately for this book, I also read Home Before Dark first, which is (in my opinion) a lot better, so I was constantly comparing the two as I read this book.

The ending did actually manage to surprise me a bit, and I thought it was creative. Again though, the execution was only okay. It didn't have that page-turning, can't-put-it-down quality you want a thriller to have.

This one gave good creepy vibes and was thought-provoking. Would have been a good one to discuss with a book club!

This was a fantastic thriller. I couldn't figure out what was going on until the end and usually I can peg the killer right from the start. Excellent!

An extra half star for the serious weirdness. If that doesn't appeal to you, then you might want to subtract the half star instead.

I am reading this author’s books out of order, yet somehow they are progressively getting worse the more I read. I like them, and they aren’t *too* scary, but these plots are super outlandish. I didn’t really feel attached to any of the characters, so I didn’t care when people disappeared or died. I guess it was an original premise, but it was just meh.

Read(listened to) this for a book club with little information on what it was before starting it. Overall faced paced and as someone who can usually predict plot twists and picks up on foreshadowing immediately, it did manage to surprise me!
