This book was slow to start but progressed and ended beautifully. A picture of Mid-western America as I have never considered, this novel takes the reader to different times that don't seem so different, telling the story of one woman through a boy and then a man's eyes as she grows and lives. While some sections didn't seem to have anything to do with "My Antonia" the person, the characters all blurred together in a quiet fashion to form a narrative of peaceful truth of life and death.

This was the first book I read by Willa Cather. She writes about the Great Plains like no one else.

It was amazing! I cried, laughed, and did both at the same time.

I can appreciate the prose, it's very well written. I get the point, it's a very good one. But the plot... Absolutely atrocious. And a book can have a good point, but without a good plot it's not a good book.

Yeah I've been reading this all summer but I've finally resigned myself to the fact that I just don't want to finish it. It had some good quotes though. "Sunflower-bordered roads always seem to me the roads to freedom."
