It amazes me how this managed to get countless of positive reviews. Was it just me or did I find the narrative too choppy, interspersed with half-hearted attempts at characterisation? The book had more characters than the first three combined and that is saying a lot. Nearly wanted to give up halfway through but thankfully, August Balder was intriguing enough to keep me going. I wish his relationship with Lisbeth could have been explored further - perhaps later installments (though I'm admittedly a little hesitant to continue)?

I wanted more. The story wrapped up too perfectly, I don't know how to feel

"What if I ask you in now?"
"Then I suppose I'll have to accept." - A star fell outside in the night sky.

The last half of the book is good but only because it's like Godzilla (2014); For the first half, Godzilla (in this case Salander and Blomkvist) is only alluded to by people we don't care about. But the second half, Godzilla appears in all his greatness and glory and it's amazing. WE CAME HERE FOR GODZILLA, NOT SOME RANDO LESSERS

Oof. Well, it’s not bad, but it’s nowhere as good as the original 3 by Steig Larsen. Plot isn’t as well developed, climax is pretty lukewarm...if you really need to read the next book in the series, go for it, but don’t expect the same quality as before.

A passable extension of the series. Aside from a slow beginning, the story picks up considerable pace in the second half and results in a satisfying thriller.
