Oh, how gorgeous this book is. Each page is dazzling.

The words are beautifully placed within the imagery. The POetry is lovely. It all makes me want to find a tree or a stoop to curl up under or on.

This was a book that I preordered knowing it would be the perfect gift to leave behind in my two schools when I retired and I was not disappointed. This is a book that explores and connects the joy of the written word and the talents of illustrators. This story allows the reader to find a place just right for them to enjoy the rich words of @kwamealexander and the incredible art of @melissasweetillustrator The text and illustrations compliment one another beautifully and this will be a great book to kick start the year. I know it will be a book that readers will enjoy and discover something new with each reading. A must have for libraries and classrooms.

Oof. I can't tell what it means that I had to take breaks reading this because the oranges and pinks literally hurt my eyes. I like the writing, and I like the art; but the colors were too bright for me, and some of the words were difficult to read because of the way they were drawn/colored in. Maybe this would be best for kids just looking at the pictures? I think it was an interesting and bold choice to make, design-wise, and I'm sure that many people are going to love it. But it's just not one I am wild about.

I knew this would be good, but I didn't realize just how great it would be. Make sure to read a physical copy of this book, if you can. I'm normally all for ebooks and digital copies, but there are parts of this book where the shape, feel, and presentation of the paper of the pages are part of poetry.

A multimedia meditation on reading and the worlds of sensation and wonder that open inside of and around a book.

What a gorgeous love letter to reading! This is a book you'll go back and reread many times because there is so much to discover. I definitely need more time to linger over Kwame's words. And to see every minute details of Melissa's illustrations. And to look at the fun spreads that make this book unique. Adding this to the beginning of the year collection!

This one would likely not make a good read aloud because of how busy the pages are and how the words are illustrated making it harder to read. As a lap story, it would be good, and has a beautiful way of saying what it has to say.
