Initially the story kind of meandered through events that don’t seem to have much value to a storyline. Everything does tie in an intricate plot that even extends past its own series. As things develop it becomes quite chaotic and confusing but it is good. You get sucked into the story and into feyre. You must know what happens next even though it breaks her and it breaks you.

Quick read! Enemies to lovers romance set in a fantasy world with fairies on one side of a boundary and humans on the other. I think this book does a really nice job of building an organic romance that’s actually fun to read. (Not so brooding and intense.) definitely some very dark violent parts though.

this book is deeply problematic in almost every story aspect. irl the romances would be regarded as having massive, terrible power asymmetries and being pretty unhealthy.  but,,, I still devoured the book, so *shrug*

Tamlin babe, you better sleep with one eye open after this because whoooo son I will be coming for u.

So many people have read this book at this point so I doubt my review is influencing anyone but for the sake of recorded history it felt pertinent to express how deeply I despise Tamlin.

The last part of the novel is must more fast paced and tense. The main love interest of the protagonist does not have too much development in this story.

Oh boy, so many things to say here. First of all, this was the first series in over 10 years that I DNF'd (never got past the first book). The writing is mediocre at best, the descriptions are trite and cliche, and it reads like fanfiction written by a middle-schooler. The main character, Feyre, is whiny, unlikable, and overall bland and annoying, she reads like a textbook self-insert mary sue who is the best at everything, except being girly because she's "not like other girls". The plot makes no real sense, and the story takes forever to move forward, usually with more focus on the smutty romance bits than the actual storyline. This story has just taken Katniss from the Hunger Games, poorly reskinned her, and dumped her in a wannabe dark and raunchy beauty and the beast ripoff. I could maybe see how it could be enjoyable for a horned up middle schooler/ early high schooler, but this book is not for anyone who wants actual substance to their stories.
