"Unpregnant" by Jenni Hendricks takes a hard situation and finds the humor in it. I will go ahead and put a trigger warning for mentions of sexual assault in the book and within this review. After Veronica's boyfriend purposefully tampers with contraceptives to get her pregnant, she and her ex-bestfriend Bailey go on a roadtrip to an abortion clinic in Albuquerque. He continually stalks and harasses her throughout the trip and his behavior is never discussed as illegal or a breech of consent. The heavy and the humor wasn't always balanced and it was almost too easy to forget why the girls are taking the trip in the first place. There were many funny and heartwarming moments and the ending is satisfying, however, one should not take this as a actual account of making a trip to get an abortion out of state.
Moderate: Sexual assault, Abortion, and Gaslighting
Minor: Homophobia and Lesbophobia

A cute, fun read that one could easily get through in one sitting. I enjoyed making the audiobook last through a few work days. At times some of the dialogue or certain scenes seemed a little ridiculous and tropey but I see that as evidence of a book that doesn't take itself too seriously so I appreciated the laughs. Finally, female friendship is one of the ultimate themes in my wheelhouse, so this story really did it for me in that regard.
Moderate: Emotional abuse, Rape, Sexual violence, Toxic relationship, Medical content, Stalking, and Abortion
Minor: Animal cruelty, Drug use, Homophobia, Pedophilia, and Blood
