I'm actually not sure if I liked this book. It definitely made me think, but I can't tell if it's a work of modern genius or an incomprehensible stream of consciousness. Mim is certainly an interesting character, and her quest to find her mom is admirable and something I could really relate to, but some topics brought up in the book and the way they were handled made me uneasy. The writing style in and of itself is incredibly interesting though, and the descriptions that come from Mim are weirdly wonderful. Whether I loved it or not, I will definitely be thinking about it for a while

Other than some pretty egregious fat-shaming for the sake of a Moby Dick joke, this book is perfect.

Author’s characterization and writing style are some of the best and most unique I’ve ever seen, but easily avoidable problematic moments and it’s weak reflections on mental illness bring the book down several stars for me.
