I've read my share of epistolary style writings and this was definitely different from others.  I think the main reason I wasn't as keen on it was the use of emojis and gifs, but like the text representation rather than the actual thing.  If there was a way for the ebook to have the actual visual component represented exactly as intended then I think it would have been an improved experience.

It was a weird one for sure.

It was a really quick read, and it was fairly entertaining. My only complaint is that they didn't fully resolve one of the storylines
(Lydia getting trapped, like did we get her out, and why were the dogs howling at her?)
. Other than that it was a fun book.

Complete nonsense. A lot of potential but all that lead up to an ending that wraps up in a few pages??? And what about Lydia???? I have so many questions and not in a good way

I bought this book on a whim at a bookstore because I liked the cover and I was intrigued that the whole book took place via Slack channel. I'd never heard of it before though, so that was really all I knew, and it's been a while since I've read a book that I don't know anything about!

Being completely over Slack channel, the book reads really fast. Yet it somehow manages to show you how these characters are different from each other. They get work done, but they also show their personalities—they joke, they send gifs, they have private Slack channels with one another...they maybe fall in love!

Not much of this world is explained (for instance, why Slackbot becomes sentient or how Gerald got sucked into Slack in the first place isn't delved into), but if you just go with the flow, you're in for a breezy getaway where you can wonder what life would be like if your consciousness was roaming around the internet. Just don't be a :dustystick:

If you've used Slack, you'll probably like this even more (I have not used Slack but I still found it enjoyable).
