I loved Happy Trail. This one just fell flat for me. The interspersed religion references were a record scratch for me every time.

The bearded cabin-dwelling guy wasn't even that sexy. Also, there is almost no plot and the writing is not good.

There was no chemistry between the 2 main characters. I wish there was more about Daphne being a park ranger as that was one of the main reasons I picked up this book. I did enjoy the beginning though, this is why I gave 2 stars.

Oh Daisy Prescott, you get Green Valley. Your books slide right into the world with no skippage
Odin Hill is a former Chef, returned black sheep in a tie. Who judges freely and often. He is not really a weirdo, but he plays one in Green Valley. If people think you’re a weirdo, you’re both not a threat and not smart enough to be doing anything nefarious. He has cultivated his persona well.
Daphne has a past she’d rather not discuss. She loves her job as a park ranger and doesn’t need vegetable Thor in her life. She doesn’t trust easily and she’s a suspicious creature by nature.
I loved the interactions between these two. They were both awkward and unsure. Neither wanted to
Give too much but they just could not resist one another.
Patsy Swine and the cameos by familiar other GV inhabitants made the book.
I can’t wait to read more in this spin off as well as by this author.

I completely loved this book! Daisy Prescott’s park rangers are a delightful addition to the Green Valley canon. In this one, Daphne is a part time ranger hoping to advance to full time. (There is a wonderful scene in this one with a bear!) She meets Odin at a farmer’s market and sparks fly. Odin is hilarious. He’s a famous chef who’s exiled himself back in the Tennessee woods, and I loved the combination of pet pig loving forager, foodie, Appalachian guy, and all-around good soul. He and Daphne were an adorable pair. Although I confess, I sort of fell in love with the animal scenes. Is that terrible of me? This book was just too cute! I really hope we’re going to get books for all the other rangers!

Really didn't hold my attention at all. Had to restart the audiobook multiple times.
