Suspenseful!

Really enjoyed this book and by the end, I couldn’t read fast enough to figure out who did it! I love Gillian Flynn’s style with the time period and point of view changing constantly. ...just as in real life, there’s more than one side to the story!

All three books were fast paced and filled with evil that is unimaginable. I appreciated that they weren't formulaic in that by the third, there were still surprises. One thing that really aggravated me were a couple of glaring (to me) mistakes that probably someone not from Missouri wouldn't notice: in Dark Places, one character in Kansas City told another to "drive west on I70 to Columbia"... That would be a drive east. Then in Sharp Objects, the FBI guy was brought in from Kansas City; if you're in the boot heel, they'd bring someone from StL, not KC. Those kind of stuck in my brain for some reason (maybe because I have editing in my veins) and niggled at me throughout.
Sharp Objects was my favorite. Gone Girl left me going "wha...??! That's IT?!" at the end.

Gillian Flynn shot into our lives through Gone Girl. It took me forever but in the end, I did jump on the bandwagon. I enjoyed it… right up until the end. The ending to the book was a disappointment for me. Wanting to see if her two other books would have a more satisfying ending I picked them up when I found them on offer. Unfortunately, these books had the same effect upon me.

In short, I find Gillian Flynn wonderful right up until the end. As it stand, though, she has yet to write an ending I’m completely pleased with. It’s unfortunate, really.

This was a gripping page turner that disgusted me most of the time, but it was necessary and it made the novel amazing. It was almost perfect. I can't put my finger on what was it that it was missing, but it wasn't as great as Gone Girl. Dear Gillian, you've done it again. I can't wait to read Dark Places!

This was a quick read.

Characters in this book are very stereotypical, the daughters are messed up because the mother is messed up because the grandmother is messed up, a pattern I've seen over and over in books, shows and films. Same with the people in small towns, the rich vs. the poor. The high school experience, the cool kids vs. the bullied kids.

I call this style of writing convenient. A lot of writers follow it.

I felt so uncomfortable reading the "sexual" description of the thirteen years old girls. They are children! What the author tried to deliver could've been delivered without this kind of descriptions.

The only character who did not frustrate me was, Curry, Camille's Boss.

The ending was supposed to be a plot twist, but in my opinion it was not.

Would I recommend this book to people If they asked? I'd say go a head and read it, there's definitely something in it but don't elevate your expectations.

It was entertaining enough for me to finish it but I knew exactly who the killer was right off the bat, also I felt awkward on how somethings were sexualized. I felt like things were very fucked up just to be fucked up and not really add to the story.
