It just has to be me. There are so many great reviews here, but I felt nothing. I really didn’t enjoy it and didn’t find it the least bit scary. The twist was interesting, but not enough for me to recommend the book.

It was an entertaining read. The main problem I found with it is it all seemed to be a bit lukewarm. I think I felt this way particularly because things wrapped up rather neatly and didn't leave many questions open for the next book in the series. It felt as if to continue would be *added* fun and not a necessity to understand the plot that connects all the books.
The pros were that the writing was good. There was nothing really distracting from the plot and the characters seemed to be developed nicely, save for a few outside characters that could have used a bit more nuance with their role in the plot.
Overall, I think it was a nice, short, exciting read for someone who wants a book to go quickly and have fun with a story.

The author came to love Japanese horror stories and wrote one. It is not very bad at all.

A girl working at a convenience store where the owner treats her horribly; this may happen in Japan. It’s pretty realistic.

I did not agree with some of the actions of the protagonist, but it was okay. Scary? It is almost there, but not quite.

DNF at 25%
The main character does so much self pity it's pitiful.
The main villain (ghost) is boring and absurd.
It can't catch my attention.
