4/5 To all the 🐲 eggs

This book was as silly as it was fun and very hilarious. A true fluffy read.

What are we getting:
* Omegaverse
* Dragon shifters
* Mpreg/ Eggs
* Fated mates
*Knotting
* Soft hearted alpha/ feisty omega
* Dragon magic and lore
* Interesting society
* Naughty baby dragons
* Funny side character and perfect pets
* Tons of laughs

- This book was fun I didn't know I needed it.

- From start to finish the banter, cute, and silly moments were awesome.

- Nate and Alistair were a fun couple and I really enjoyed their journey. But definitely one of my favorite parts of the book was the side characters (our sweet Harry was precious) and the pets ( Steve and Olivia).

PS: The narrator Michael Ferraiuolo did a great job portraying all the characters well.

Favorite quotes:

Nate's priorities are right 😂:

Alistair raised one fine, dark brow. “That we’ll be having acrobatic sex for several centuries, at least?” Nate whacked Alistair lightly on the chest. “No, you stupid lizard. It means I’ll finally have time to read all the books! Not to mention finish my dissertation.”

Ev and Harry are the most perfect comical duo 😂:

“The eggs are hatching,” Harry announced with gleeful enthusiasm. “Ev, we made it just in time! They’re hatching.” “That’s perfect, dumpling. Now get off my family’s filthy sex bed and come stand somewhere sanitary.”

Nate & Alistair

This is a re-read for me bc I absolutely love this series! It’s been a while and I forgot how funny Nate is, and Alistair is totally whipped from the beginning lol. Harry and Perry are two of my fave characters so it was nice to revisit them from the beginning! It always boggles my mind how destitute everyone thinks Alistair is and he just agrees and Nate is like ‘whaaaa’ lol. Onto the next, my FAVORITE!!!

I'm not sure what to think of this book. I finished it, so I obviously liked it enough, but I had so many questions that were never answered. Will they be answered in the next books? Who knows! I just started book 2 (despite not being fond of Harry. He's like every nerd stereotype x1000 and is honestly pretty obnoxious).

The things I had issues with mostly seemed to revolve around world building (or lack of) and possibly lack of communication between the two authors? Spoilers for the rest of the review...

SpoilerFirst off, I wish it was explained more how the A/B/O worked in this world. It almost seemed like dragons were largely unknown to the humans, yet they seem to be the only alphas with humans being betas/omegas? Also, Alistair is over 900 years old, knows how to use Grindr, but doesn't know some simple things about humans?

What is the gestation for the eggs inside the human? It seemed like Nate and Alistair had sex, Nate went to sleep, then gave birth the next morning. There were actually quite a few instances of time skipping where I had no idea how much time actually passed.

Apparently Nate was unique? Somehow? Everard mentioned it, but never elaborated. There were a few times when Nate asked Alistair something, Alistair said "ask Everard", then nothing ever came of it.

Also, during the council meeting, Alistair said they'd see a lot more of the Drake family patriarch, but we never saw him again after that. Also, nothing about why the gold dragon stabbed Alistair, other than "oh, we're enemies."

The eggs were apparently special somehow too, but again, it was never explained!

The attack by the two topaz dragons seemed random and pointless too. They wanted Nate's eggs, but why? It just seemed like an attempt to create action/drama, but it just left me thinking, "Okay, what was the point?"

Lastly, this is just nit-picky on my part, but all through the book, the eggs were described as leathery like normal reptile eggs. Yet when Nate's began to hatch, they were "chipping away" at the eggs like the shells were hard. If they were still leathery, they wouldn't chip, they'd tear (watch a reptile egg hatching video to see what I mean).

In general, I did keep going back to continue reading, but I had so many questions and I was disappointed almost none of them were answered. I'll continue to read the series, if only to hope for some more answers about this world.

Reread/relisten #3 April 2024:

Yes this is just as fun as the first time I read this, I love all these dragons and the omega's who they find! Raven Part One is out on Audio, so it is only fitting to do a whole series reread before Part 2 comes out so I can read all the books and get back up to speed!

Now Harry and Ev's book, because we all know that is the best! haha

Reread/relisten #2 May 2022:

Same rating as before. And now on to Harry and Ev’s story
