2.5 rounded down

Bad punctuation.
And pacing. And head-hopping.
But I read it all.

Dagan, a professional lifter, is ready to win in the professional strongman competition after an injury sidelined him. He doesn't want anything to come between him and victory. At least until he meets his new roommate, Ollie, and sparks fly.

Ollie and Dagan were a cute couple. They had instant attraction but it takes a while for Ollie to let Dagan in. This was a quick, steamy read with minor anguish that just hit the spot. I look forward to the next book.

I like the book dont get me wrong but... everything felt rush. Like first, ollie didn't want anything to do with D and then suddenly after a hug, we moved to a heated kiss to... sex? And how the heck did ollie knew D was a power bottom? They haven't discussed anything about their preferences!!! Ugh and that rush closure.... *rolls eyes* ridiculous. It made zero sense. Seriously this had so much potential... hopefully next book will be better.

A hush goes through the crowd 'cos Teeny has just discovered a new author!!!

I have to say I didn't read the blurb and I had no clue what I wasn't getting myself into and OMG I'm so happy I did!!!

I loved the pace and the writing style. I loved Ollie and Dagen and can't wait to read the rest of the series ^^.

The reason for the rounding down to 4 stars is because I need a little more from the epilogue to have a HEA and not a HFN and a little more depth in the feelings between Dagen and Ollie.

Lovely introduction to a host of characters I could easily hand my heart over to.

This was great!

Carry and Drag is the story of Dagen, a weightlifter who just recovered from an injury and is now training for his next competition, keen to win to contribute to the family business and prove himself to his brothers, and Ollie, a tattoo artist who wants to start over new and is waiting for the other shoe to drop as the opportunity he's been given just seems too good to be true.

I liked all aspects of the book:
The romance was lovely, with Dagen being kind-hearted and caring and exactly right for Ollie, who has many sore spots he doesn't like to get poked.
I also liked the surrounding setting. I do not know much about weightlifting or sports/training in general, but it was nice to read about. The tattooing I know I little more about, but it wasn't as present in the book as I had wished for.
The characters were also great: Dagen was a sweetheart, made even more so by his name that somehow reminds me of that one ice cream brand (Häagen-Dazs anyone? Just me? Ok). The side characters (mainly Dagen's brothers) were great too, and I am looking forward to their books, and I hope that Kayla is considered to be part of the family as well *eye emoji*

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyable series intro

This book, aside from being a nice romance between Ollie and Dagen, also serves as an introduction to the Open Wounds series where we get to meet the Rourke brothers. The author does a good job of establishing characters and building the story arc.

Ollie and Dagen’s story is a nice one without a lot of angst between them. Kind of heartbreaking for Dagen with the way the story begins and ends but you just know he wouldn’t trade any of it if it meant losing Ollie.

Look forward to the next book in the series.

Solid performance

4/5

A book where the main character lifts?! And he is a gentle giant?! I sigh and I delight. So good.
This shortie is totally worth your time.
It balances sweet with a touch of sexy. And it’s a family affair. This will be a fun series to follow.
