This is a really intersting book. I read it for a Mystery Book Club and thought that I wouldn't like it at all, but the part about living in Japan is educational. The mystery is a little complicated, but the people are real and dimensional. I would definitely recommend this title even if you don't like mysteries.

Although this series isn't new, it was new to me...and I'm so glad I finally started reading it! I've enjoyed getting to know the main character, Rei Shimura, even if she's a little difficult to like at times. I've also enjoyed the setting (Japan--at least for the first few in the series) and the cultural nuances included. The humor's been a nice treat as well -- I've laughed out loud a few times. A fun read, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series and seeing what other predicaments Rei manages to get herself into.

Read Rei Shimura books during college and remembered liking them tremendously. This one was quite sweet and nice. Rei is an interesting character and the setting is perfect for those who wish to find out how a foreigner sees the japanese culture. Rei of course isn't a total outsider which makes the story even more interesting.

The crime story here isn't really hard core and the solution is quite lame but I'll forgive this for we are introduced to many new characters. The base for the entire series is well constructed.

Simply adored this book. Loved learning about life in Japan for a Japanese-American girl. The mystery wasn't an easy one to solve either. Lots of twists and turns to find the murderer.
