I don't think it is going to be an age gap romance..
Though the behaviour of the teacher is quite inappropriate imo.

I went into my favourite story of Forbidden Planet and they suddenly had loads of copies of all of the recently published Daytime Shooting Star! I ended up buying volumes 2 and 3 on the same day because I did enjoy reading Volume 1 a lot, and then after I read volume 1, Read With Cindy recommended this series so I knew that I had to carry on reading them. I did thought it was weird that my local, small, Waterstones had Daytime Shooting Star before Forbidden Planet but now I'm happy Forbidden Planet stocks them because I got it for 3 for 2!

I really enjoyed reading this book. I feel like it's both not a stereotypical shojo manga, and a typical shojo manga. It's refreshing to ship the main female character Suzume with someone that she doesn't currently have feelings for. I find it refreshing because shojo is the sort of genre where romance between a student and a teacher would be okay to depict, but in this series, you don't end up shipping the romance that the main character wants. I really enjoy that because I do love a good second lead syndrome.

I did like the plot of this book because I felt like things did happen and the characters did develop. I always love it when the manga does the holiday/trip plot line because I feel like that's where the characters grow closer faster.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and so far I would recommend this series!

His boundaries aren’t consistent which bugs me. Not loving the characters just yet.

whywhywhywhy does this teacher and student trope keep happening??? It's incredibly frustrating because the art is beautiful! But she's 16! He's 25! It's gross! I thought her crush would burn out and the teacher would actually be a sensible ADULT MAN and fade away...but no! ICK. YUCK.

“It's suffocating and painful. My heart is pounding at full throttle. You can almost hear it. I'll never deny... that I've ever had these first feelings. I will treasure these sparkling feelings, never averting my eyes from them.”

That cliffhanger is killing me! I just can't wait to see what's to happen next (although, if my previous experiences mean anything, nothing will happen right away, but we'll see the proper conclusion later on in the volume). The character developments are really interesting too; Yuyuka is already much more likable, and I even kind of feel bad for her (only a little though lol), Mamura managed to be even more adorable and precious than he was in the first volume, and Sensei keeps showing more and more facets to his personality. Now on to the artwork, (can't believe I haven't talked about it yet!) it. Is. STUNNING! Honestly one of my favorite styles ever, everything is so clean, and easy to read and understand, yet all of the characters are very expressive and beautiful to look at. It kind of reminds me of Io Sakisaka's work, Ao Haru Ride, Strobe Edge, which are some of my favorite manga art as well. This volume was just as good as the last, and I can only seeing it improving in the next.
