Death on Bull Path by Carrie Doyle is an engaging addition to her A Hamptons Murder Mystery series. In this book, Antonia is back and she’s faced with quite a situation. First, two men who patronized her bar one night are found dead the next day. Antonia finds herself embroiled in one mysterious mystery as drama swirls around her and her inn with a variety of characters and the resurfacing of her ex-husband Philip.
Death on Bull Path by Carrie Doyle picks up where the last book left off. Antonia is trying to run her inn and be a success at it and attempting to forget Nick, her movie star love, in the process. When a couple of murders happen and then tie into people who were staying at her inn. The author weaves an intriguing mystery and keeps the characters shuffling and the reader guessing as to who committed the murders. The addition of Antonia’s ex adds an unexpected twist and the hits just keep coming! There were honestly moments of where I was on the edge of my seat eager to find out what was going to happen next.
I will say that I am a bit disappointed in Antonia. As many mysteries as she has been a part of one would think that she’d have learned a few things about investigations by now. She wants so much to be part of the investigations, but when she inserts herself in attempts to solve the mystery she messes things up. I will complain a bit that we don’t get any true resolution about the situation with the ex, which I was honestly hoping we would.
All in all, I have to say that this book is a good story to pick up if you have read the other books by this author and enjoyed them. The author weaves a twisted mystery with a few red herrings thrown in to distract the reader. This book is a well done cozy mystery and one I definitely recommend. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars.
