Warnings: There is an early fairly graphic SA scene, suicide, abuse, and another scene with a graphic death.

Not the kind of book I usually read (paranormal fiction and/or mysteries) and I probably wouldn’t pick it up if I knew the specific violent scenes before I’d started it. But I enjoyed the book a lot. It’s like a really good (fictional) biopic. I laughed, cried, and finished it in about 24 hours. I especially loved the dog.

Maybe I’m being too harsh with this rating - more a 4.25. I loved the setting 1960s and the gender inequality is explained so well. Elizabeth Zott is an
unusual character but her love for chemistry and leading women forward in their careers and changing that status quo is so admirable!

77% of the book is depressing, thats too much for me even if it all works out in the end.

I think this is the first time I've been brought to tears just because of how GOOD a book is. The expertly woven storyline had me devouring this book every moment I could.

This book made me feel just about every emotion possible. A powerful feminist read with just a touch of hopeless romance.
