It's a dive into how quickly society is willing to turn on itself for the sake of normalcy. It's a nice change of pace to have a book start with a character who remembers what society was like before the virus caused the shift in everyone's diet, this leaving us to follow him as he comes with the new world order while trying to keep his humanity.

This book legit traumatized me. The point of this book is overshadowed by the weird fetishization of the world in which they live.

I think by now, we all know I go into my books blind. However, I actually semi-knew a little about Tender is the Flesh. While I knew this book is a dystopian novel about cannibalism, I was not prepared for the way this book’s society became.

Tender is the Flesh follows Marcos, who works at a human slaughter house. We get to learn about his struggles with the way society has changed, along with some personal issues he has to face. While dealing with these personal issues, he ends up doing something unspeakable. Something he never thought he’d do.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book. I honestly think I had to high of expectations for Tender is the Flesh. While I wasn’t the biggest fan, it was a good read, just not what I expected. The concept behind this book was good and interesting, just maybe not for me. If you like darker dystopian novels, and not much bothers you, this is definitely a book you should try.

This book was written solely for making the readers feel disgusted, horrified and angry. I don’t know how but it had such a magnetic field around it that I was gravitating towards this book despite it making me nauseous with its gruesomeness.
I truly believe that humans in general are capable of doing more bad than good because leaving the poor evil people aside, the rest of us either care too much for ourselves or for our loved ones. No in between.
I didn’t like a single person in this book. All were hypocrites. But you have no option to be anyone else in that dystopian world. All I saw were broken people who were trying to do the right thing on their own terms.

P.S. : In every kind of world, women will remain unsafe and be the most taken advantage of.
