I think I read this back in Year 11, and then gave it to a friend for his birthday. I really don't know why I returned to it, but it's entertaining enough and a good survey of rhetorical figures, which aren't stressed in education nearly as much as they used to be. However, it's only summary, and many of the terms are much more contentious and vague than Forsyth makes them out to be (for the sake of brevity). I also didn't like his claim that Shakespeare, as a great writer, was simply expert at applying known formulae, rather than a vessel for inspiration or genius. The book is often funny, but its style gets tedious quickly despite its slenderness. Still worth the quick read.
